Cavitation Probe CP2020TM
Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is the CP2020?
    A:
A hand held portable cavitation probe that measures Sonoluminescence (light from sound energy) in-situ (real time).

  2. How does the CP2020 measure cavitation?
    A:
Sound waves traveling through liquid causes zones of high and low pressure, in which bubbles are formed. These tiny bubbles continue to grow until they become very unstable and collapse. This Pico second collapse creates plasma that emits light. The CP2020 probe measures this emitted light (Sonoluminescence).

  3. What do I use the CP2020 for?
    A:
To measure cavitations in ultra and mega sonic tanks. The amount of cavitations can then be related directly to real time cleaning efficiency of the tanks.

  4. How big is the CP2020?
    A:
The probe head measures 2" diameter x 8" long. With 6 ft. cable to a hand held pc control Module approximately 4"x 6"x 1/2" thick.

  5. How do I record cavitation measurements?
    A:
Data acquisition is done with the hand held pc module and can be uploaded to a pc using the following formats: USB, Bluetooth or IR data download.

  6. How does this technology compare with sound pressure technology in monitoring ultra/mega sonic tanks?
    A:
Virtually all-completive probes measure sound pressure. Cavitation depends on 10 important variables using Sonoluminescence we capture all 10 variables that lead to cavitation

  7. Why is this probe an important advance?
    A:
Only by knowing the how, why, when and where of cavitation can you hope to achieve a successful and reproducible ultra sonic or mega sonic wet process.

  8. How much does it cost?
    A:
    USD 19,000-27,000
